San Diego weekend

So, we were going to San Diego for Father's Day weekend. It did not have the best of starts.. see Graham had been sick most of the week with a virus but we still headed out. We are driving alomg the 5 freeway when I hear Nick making a noise to turn around and find him throwing up. I jump up and leaning into the back seat to catch as much of it in his blanket as I can while Graham gets us off the freeway and luckily into a resturant parking lot. Nick has covered himself and the car seat pretty well and it has a nasty smell. Milk, V-8 juice and waffle combo.. yummy!!! We get Nick out and striped down. Graham is trying to clean him up as I take out the car seat. I send Graham and Nick into the resturant so Graham can sponge him down in a sink. I then take out the car seat and it has leaked onto the seat it was gross. Now trying to take apart a car seat to remove the cover is not easy in the first place but try doing it without getting covered in puke.. well it doesn't work. Graham comes out and we look at each other and decided then toss the car seat and go buy a new one. Not happy with the decesion cause ours was oh maybe 4 months old BUT we had no where to put it. The trunk was full of lugage and it wasnt going back inside the car. My friend Joanna who lived about 20 minutes away was not going to be home so we can't get it to her place and hose it off so in the trash it went. We put Nick in katherine's booster seat and Katherine got to ride like a big girl until we could get to the next Babies R Us so I could get a new car seat and more baby wipes. Luckily there was one in Irvine and we were there in about 15 minutes. Katherine and I went in and got the car seat, wipes, a new outfit for Nick since all his clean clothes were packed and a couple spare blankets to be on the safe side. Yeah, we are back on the road and it is going good right. It's like 2:30 now we are in Oceanside.. we left at like 10:30 but whatever. Kids are hungry and Nick has had some water and is doing good. Swing thru Carl's Jr. Katherine is eating we are back on the freeway and I give Nick a french fry and he eats it. he asked for more and I give him one. It then dawns on me that maybe I should make sure he is covered with a blanket just to be on the safe side. I know sooner turn around and he is PUKING AGAIN!! On the NEW CAR SEAT!!! But luckily it was mostly the water he had drank and half a french fry. Although, I need to clean him up and there is no off ramp so I get to get out of the car on the freeway. Not the most safe feeling in the world but I cant let theat sit on him either. All cleaned up and back on our way. My friend Joanna pointed out to me that we could have flown to Hawaii in the time it took us to get to San Diego that day and sadly she is right :). But we eventually made it to the hotel and got into a room. From there the first thing I did was do a load of laundry and Graham got Nick into a bath. Fun times!!!
